I have over 15 years of experience teaching the guitar at all levels. As I teach in colleges and schools, I am also fully CRB checked.
I teach from my studio in Rowhedge and can also offer online lessons via Zoom.
Sessions can be booked at: £30 per hour or £15 per half-hour
As well as having 30 years of playing experience, I also have a First Class Honours Degree in Music. I was heavily involved in both recording and editing pieces from Grades 1 to 8 for the 2020-2023 Acoustic guitar syllabus from Trinity College Press.
Styles and Levels
I am equally at home teaching at all levels so beginner students are as welcome as advanced players.
I am as happy guiding a pupil through their first chords as I am teaching Grade 8 pieces, improvisation skills or jazz theory.
Although I have a specialism in Jazz and Gypsy Jazz guitar, I have a broad range of performance and teaching experience in Rock & Pop, Metal, Folk, Country and Blues.
Each of the courses will be tailored to the needs of the individual student. I encourage students to consider what their own particular goals are in order to achieve results as quickly as possible with my help. Goals can be short-term, such as learning a specific song, or long-term, graded exams etc.
I have a 100% pass rate with Trinity Classical Guitar, ABRSM Classical Guitar and Rockschool exams.
Before embarking on my Degree in Music, I was self-taught so have a deep understanding of different approaches to teaching and learning and believe that each pupil should be taught in the way that suits them.
